Cryosauna Review

It is really hard to choose a cryogenic sauna when every time I call a manufacturer they all say theirs is the 5 star model and all the others suck. Everything I say they have a counter to. Just yesterday I was talking to a company and they were trash talking Juka saying theirs wastes nitrogen and cost way more to operate. But, I've been in one. It has 2 exhaust hoses, it uses way more LN2 and runs off 50psi. Going in a cryosauna running at 50psi will give me the most endorphin rush. I'm sorry to say but many of these cryosaunas feel really damp and wet and dealing with knowing that I can get frostbit is a big problem for me.

As of today, only one cryosauna is UL listed. At this time, at least one company that I know of is trying to get their cryosauna UL listed. Just so everyone knows, there are 3 companies that are not UL listed but have the European equivalent of CE. It really wasn't broadcasted or a big thing until one company got their UL listing approved. Now almost all the companies are trying to get their cryosauna UL listed too.

Another big thing is most of the cryosauna companies are switching from direct spray injection type cryosaunas to the exchanger type. On these cryosaunas the liquid nitrogen is sprayed on a plate and is evaporated into the air where the person stands. The other type is where the liquid nitrogen is converted to cold dry air with an evaporator so it is way more safe. Most people would never go back to a clinic that has the direct spray type. The only thing I would say that would make it more appealing if that plate was infused that the liquid nitrogen was being sprayed on that it evaporates on. That would even out the pros and cons for me.

Note: On the direct spray injection types which are much cheaper than the cryosaunas that are not like this, these are the types I hear of frostbit. The good thing is that on these direct spray injection types they usually have 3 levels and most people don't even turn it past -166 so I don't even consider that cryotherapy in the first place. It is just a waste of money for people and naive customers go on some Groupon deal and looking for something cheap and don't even know anything about cryotherapy and end up getting what they thought was cryotherapy. The technicians will rarely turn these types to level 3 because they are told not to. They would be causing severe frostbite with these people and then there would be more problems than the 10's of thousands of dollars they saved on getting such a cheap cryosauna. I know which ones they are. If you don't see these brands on my site there is a reason. I get contacted all the time with manufacturer's wondering why their cryosauna is not on my site. Most of these companies hang up on me when I start grilling them and asking them questions they don't want to answer.

Latest Generation Crygenic Chambers

Every year something new comes out in cryogenic saunas. Now that they are becoming more regulated, being UL listed is the big thing now which makes them super pricey. The biggest change is the vortex types. The early generation cry saunas did not circulate around the body unlike those that circulated on the body causing frostbite.

The newer generation cryo saunas get colder and have a less direct circulation. Note: A big red flag is when companies tell me their chambers get colder than their competition but they don't know how to answer when I ask them how the fluence of their nitrogen is felt on the body.

The latest generation cryosaunas have ZERO defrost times. Only a few models have this. This can be very helpful in high traffic clinics. The higher end models have both the coldest temperatures and a better circulation.
Another latest safety feature which now many people are putting out on their latest models to copy a company that came up with it is the feature that if someone is standing and they fall or their head goes below the top edge then the cryosauna automatically shuts down.

It is funny how every time one company comes out with a new feature many of the other companies rush to copy it. If I see a same feature on two competitors, I always look to see if that part is UL listed.

Note: the latest Cryosaunas that go to lower temperatures and also have nitrogen fluence that does not directly hit the body, sessions can be much shorter. A 4 minute session at -220 degrees gives me much more pins and needle feeling than a 3 minute session -260 degree model that has a non direct nitrogen fluence. I urge anyone looking to start a cryotherapy clinic to try both types before buying. Many clients who are going to use cryo saunas on a regular basis usually try out several different places in their area and pick the one they like the best.

Once I have been in the newer types, I cannot go back to the older style. I do 2 sessions back to back and I cannot use the direct contact types anymore. This is the first question I ask when I hear about a new company. They give me their sales pitch and will not mention this unless they actually have it. People need to know to ask the right questions. All of them flow nitrogen around the body but how it's done they won't answer.

Note: the ones that go down to -280 must have this type otherwise frostbite and severe irritation.

Most of the professional sports teams have these types as they can afford them. Many team managers usually have to go through 2 or 3 different brands before they find this type. It's really hard to get what a team manager really wants when every cryo sauna site says theirs will do the best. I busted 3 companies already for claiming their temperature goes as low as their site claims. (putting the thermometer in just the right place can give fake specs that make them legitimately claim their chamber goes 50 degrees cooler than it really does. It's the same bullshit that motor companies claim on horsepower with bare motor speed with no resistance on the machine. Every company seems to find a way to manipulate people to screw up their logical buying process.

I know the differences between the different cryosaunas out there and which ones that are best for high traffic clinics and which are better for smaller boutique clinics. Many gyms are starting to put freeze chambers next to their saunas. In the executive member locker rooms at many gyms they are being introduced to.
