Cryosauna Exposure times:

Many people become addicted to using cryosaunas and many people have the tendency to overdo it.

Some people go in for double back to back sessions per day and some do 2 to 3 sessions spread out during the day. Usually the elite athletes can tolerate double session up to 3 times a day. If doing multi sessions like this I would only do this if doing high intensity lymphatic flushing between sessions. Many clinics now offer this so people can do this immediately after their cryosauna session.

Many people who go in medium cold cryosaunas who are doing this 2 times a day and doing back to back sessions really are not getting a true experience. This is for those going in low fluence cryosaunas that do not cool the body evenly. Getting 2 sessions at -260 is not the same as getting 2 sessions at -190 degrees.

Most people who are not in rehab or doing heavy training where quick recovery time is not a necessity usually can get by with 2 to 3 times a week in the cryosauna.

Cryosaunas and exposure times: Some people go in for 3 minutes and other cryosaunas won't get the body temperature to 30 degrees unless they are in there for 4 minutes. Most exposure times in 3 minutes get the body to 32 to 35 degrees. Very few of the cryosaunas get the body to 30 degrees and these will not be tolerable unless they have the vortex type nitrogen. A whirlpooling nitrogen feels totally different than the types that are more direct contact. Exposure times are much shorter when the fluence is higher in the bottom to the top of the cryosauna. Some have high output (those releasing more than 1 liter per minute) but if the total fluence is not high they will still not get the body to 30 degrees.

Note: some cryosauna models take much longer and some do it quicker. It really depends on the fluence of nitrogen and vortex type. The higher the fluence, the quicker the body temperature change.

Note: high exposure times risk the body getting frostbit and those doing back to back session can get a loss of blood circulation.

Note: on the the cryogenic saunas that I have to constantly move around 1/4 turn to avoid cold spots and constantly and move my legs around are not the type of cryo saunas that I enjoy. The new whirlpool nitrogen types do not requires this to avoid cold spots that have high risk of getting frostbit.
Cryosauna Protocols:
When the body is cooled during the standard 3 minutes session, the blood in the skin and nearby muscles constrict and the blood is forced away. I strongly recommend doing lymphatic exercise right after the session. When the toxins that were in homeostasis are removed and circulation back into the lymph system, there is no better time than just after the session. Many people do double session and don't do any flushing between sessions. This is when it is most important.

The goal is to bring cleaner blood back to the muscles and take out all the lactic acid and actually pump it out instead of just having it rest in the lymph nodes. I have 9 websites on lymph drainage protocols and I know the protocols to reduce recovery time and get a wider range of motion in the body. Filtering the blood the right way can be tricky but if doing the right protocols in order is what is hard to know.

After the session, if not using protocols to rapidly pump the lymphatic system, exercising the muscles is my second recommendation. I heat my core up 3 degrees for at least 30 minutes at least once a day. Many people do 10 cryotherapy sessions and just go in and when done go about their business. The feedback I get when one does a heavy 10 to 20 minute lymphatic session right after the cryosauna makes a big difference.

Many people do 2 sessions a day and some do 2 double sessions a day. If not doing super strenuous exercise and the body doesn't need it, I don't see a purpose of doing 3 sessions a day. Some of the elite athletes do 3 sessions per day but they need it. Those seeking professional performance usually do 3 sessions per day.

I do this before going into every session to release histamine in my skin to the point I itch all over. I also
raise my body voltage about -10mv to -15mv which really gets the most out of my session.
